Dr. Edgar Lacunza, MD is highly trained surgeon who specializes in advanced laparoscopy, bariatric (obesity), metabolic surgery 

(Diabetes, hipertension, high levels of triglycerides and/or cholesterol) and hepatic-pancreatic and biliary surgery (bilio-digestive).

Dr. Edgar Lacunza received his medical degree from Autonomous University of Zacatecas, College of Medicine. Dr. Lacunza completed his General Surgery Training at Sonora State ¨Hospital General Regional no. 1, Mexican Social Security Institute¨ located in Ciudad Obregon.

​

Dr. Lacunza completed a fellowship program in Advanced Laparoscopic and Bariatric Surgery with world-renowned surgeon, Dr. Juan Lopez Corvala in Hospital Angeles Tijuana.  

​

After that Dr. Lacunza also completed an advanced training in hepatic-pancreatic and biliary surgery in ¨High Speciality Medical Unit, Hospital de especialidades no.2¨ in Sonora, and then he completed advanced courses in hepatic surgery in ¨Hospital Universitari i Politècnic La Fe¨ in Valencia Spain which holds a position as one of the most recognized healthcare institutions in Spain.

Dr. Lacunza has published research articles in the fields of Obesity, Hepato-pacreato-biliary surgery and  General Surgery.

He also complete a master in obesity and clinical nutrition in Universidad Autonoma de Mexico to offer a complete management to all of his patients.

Dr. Edgar Lacunza's team is formed by a group of experienced and high skilled specialist, including a nutriologist, internist, hematologist,

anesthesiologist, psychiatrist and interventional radiologist.

He have the necessary tools to treat patients suffering from obesity than also have liver problems (hepatomegaly, not alcoholic fatty liver, liver cysts, liver tumors, cirrhosis, vesicular litiasis) or patients with history of pancreatitis.
